What We Do
The Society for Amateur Scientists helps ordinary people do extraordinary science.
Since its founding in 1994, SAS has been the only non-profit research and
education organization dedicated to helping people enrich their
lives by following their passion to take part in scientific adventures
of all kinds. We educate, advocate, kibitz and build networks of like-minded people to further the ethical pursuit of science and scientific research.
SAS is not an organization of amateurs. Rather, we are an
organization for amateurs. We are a unique consortium of thousands of
professional and amateur scientists who seek to advance science and science literacy on all fronts.
