Update: The Great Plains Super Launch
Thanks to BalloonSat author and researcher Paul Verhage for sending updates about an important gathering for amateur high-altitude balloonists. The event is the 2009 Great Plains Super Launch (GPSL).
GPSL is the premier conference for near space explorers and enthusiasts dedicated to the education and study of aerospace science via Amateur Radio High Altitude Ballooning." GPSL 2009 will be held in the Topeka, Kansas at the Kaw Area Technical School (KATS) from 16-19 July. Go to http://www.superlaunch.org to find the latest information and schedule. GPSL 2009 will be hosted by NearSys and the KATS.
High-altitude ballooning is an excellent way to begin doing real science, as Paul has made so clear in "Poorman's Space Program," his ongoing series of columns in The Citizen Scientist. GPSL 2009 will provide a way to meet Paul and other leaders in amateur high-altitude ballooning.
