Kudos for Ron Larham's Domino Study

Editor,

I really enjoyed Ron Larham's article in the latest The Citizen Scientist on Measuring the speed of the Domino Effect. TCS needs more articles like this.

It always amazes me how quickly someone wanting to analyze a signal dives into the frequency domain. From looking at the time domain plots it is clear there is not a lot of energy at the fundamental frequency of the clicks. This means the peak is going to be hard to spot in the frequency domain. It seems to me in this case a simple auto-correlation in the time domain would show a big peak at the click interval. Care to try it Ron?

Part 2 of Ron's domino investigation appears in this installment of The Citizen Scientist. Jim, you're right, we need more articles like this. TCS readers are encouraged to join Ron in sending their project articles for us to consider. Editor.
