Comet McNaught

This image of the McNaught Comet was taken on 12 January 2007 shortly after sunset when the comet was at perihelion and about five degrees from the sun. It's a 1/20 second exposure taken through a Celestron 750 mm, F6 telephoto lens with a Canon 350D digital camera on a stationary tripod. The location was near Placerville, California, at an elevation of 760 meters (2,500 feet).

best of your ability, provide both the common name and the
genus and species of any plants or animals. Common names are
lower case, as in the live oak tree. The genus is capitalized
and the species is not, as in: The live oak (Quercus virginiana)
keeps its leaves during winter. Also provide information about
the camera that made the photograph.
