Shawn Carlson to Emcee Naval Research Conference

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) has asked Dr. Shawn Carlson, Executive Director of the Society for Amateur Scientists, to act as the master of ceremonies for a four-day conference to be held in Washington, DC, at the end of July.

Shawn reports that, "Top Navy brass, at least six Senators, and hundreds of Defense contractors will be there talking about what America needs to do keep its Navy the best in the world in the coming century. Education is central to the ONR's mission. In fact, they are required by law to support educational programs like ours. When I pitched Labrats to my contact there, he offered create a special session at the conference on education so I can present it to all the attendees. Considering the fact that many technology companies support worthy education programs, I am very hopeful that this will be a fruitful meeting for Labrats."
