Announced
Shawn Carlson, Executive Director of the
Society for Amateur Scientists, has announced that the 2006
Citizen Science Conference will be held in Providence, Rhode
Island, from August 24 (Thursday) through August 27 (Sunday).
Those who wish to present a paper at the meeting should send
an abstract here.
Shawn reports, "As always, we will
have a nifty day event on Thursday, meetings Friday and Saturday,
a lecture Friday evening and an awards banquet on Saturday
evening. Sunday morning will be a poster session."
The meeting will be held at the Providence
Marriott Downtown Hotel. The cost of registration for
the four day event will be $180. Single day registration will
be $90, and registration for only the poster session will
be $60.
Conference attendees will be able to register
through the Society for Amateur Scientists web
site. The link will be provided in a future installment
of The Citizen Scientist.
The Marriott will create a web site for conference
attendees to register for rooms. The site will be announced
in a future installment of The Citizen Scientist.
Attendees must make their own room reservations, and they
will be able to get a discount if they do it through the special
Marriott web site.
Note that attendees will be able to register
for the conference only through the SAS web site and make
room reservations only through the Marriott site. Again, both
sites will be announced in a future installment of TCS.
The Providence
Marriott Downtown is located in downtown Providence off
Route 95. A map and transportation information are available
at the Providence
