Beware SAS E-Mail Hoax
An Internet worm (Mytob.JA; S454656AbVKAESu)
tried to sneak into a Society for Amateur Scientists mailbox
as an attachment to a typical e-mail scam. The worm was removed
by our software.
The infected e-mail was sent to an SAS e-mail
address (not The Citizen Scientist). The subject
line read, "Notice of account limitation." The body
of the e-mail stated that a staffer's e-mail account was temporarily
suspended and needed to be reactivated by opening the attached
file.
SAS members are well aware of nuisances like
this, but it seemed best that we advise our members to ignore
any e-mails from "webmaster@sas.org" signed by the
fictitious "Sas Support Team."
