Mount Kilimanjaro is located in Tanzania in Eastern
Africa. At 5,895 meters (19,336 feet), it is by far
the highest mountain in Africa. The Roof of Africa and
its beautiful scenery attract thousands of tourists
from around the world.
Mount Kilimanjaro is a giant stratovolcano complex.
The highest cone, which is also the youngest, is known
as Kibo. Older adjacent cones are Mawenzi and Shira.
The glaciers atop Kibo are in rapid retreat.
