For those who were unable to be in
the Nation's Capital this Spring, here is the backyard
version of the cherry blossoms at their peak. It has
been an unusually long, late and beautiful show. It
is now starting to "snow" pink and white petals.
We are in Potomac, Maryland, just
about three kilometers (two miles) outside the Washington,
DC, Beltway. We are on the Potomac River at Great Falls.
The close-ups were taken on 8 April 2005. The full bloom
shots were taken on 14 April 2005 at noon. The photographs
were made with a Sony Cyber-shot with a Carl Zeiss lens
and a resolution of 3.3 megapixels.
