Astrophysics Workshop for Amateur
Astronomers
The Third High Energy Astrophysics Workshop for Amateur Astronomers
currently has travel grants of up to $800 available for amateur
astronomers, teachers and science educators. The workshop
will be held March 21-23, 2005 at New Mexico State University
in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
The goal is to educate science enthusiasts
in the latest high energy astrophysics research (black holes,
supernova, gamma ray bursts, etc.) so that they may take the
information back and share it with their local community in
the classroom, through talks and presentations.
Information on the workshop and an online
application form for the travel grants are
available at: http://www.aavso.org/aavso/meetings/hea3.shtml
The workshop is being organized by the American Association
of Variable Star Observers (AAVSO), NASA, New Mexico State
University and Sonoma State University.
