End of a Day's Chase

Dianna and I spent Mother's Day 2004 chasing storms in central Minnesota. We observed and photographed numerous severe thunderstorms in a broken line that produced large hail and damaging winds. We took several hours of video and numerous still photographs of outflow regions and inflow regions, the latter being the places most likely to form tornadoes. No tornado formed, despite the impressive structure and strength of the storms.

It was a great time despite not seeing a tornado. My best shot of the day was the sun setting behind an intense rain shaft, a fitting way to conclude a long day chasing thunderstorms.
